How do I find out what it is worth?

Take it to a few antique dealers. Get a variety of opinions. Sometimes they will undervalue it hoping you will sell it to them and they will make the profit. Or have your insurance appraiser value it for you. They will tell you what it’s worth if they have to replace it or pay for it. The frame may be worth more than the painting. So be sure to have the frame valued too.
