How do I smooth out my polyester poster?
I recently bought a 40×30 fabric poster online. It is 100% polyester. When they shipped it to me it was all folded, needless to say there were several fold and crease marks. How can I get those out? How do I smooth it out?
The best thing to get creases out of any synthetic fiber is heat. So, put your iron on a polyester/synthetic setting. Place the fabric, printed side down, on the ironing board and iron the entire poster. Allow each ironed section to cool before moving on to another section. This allows the fabric to cool and prevent additional creases/wrinkles.
You may want to test a corner to be sure the iron is on the right setting as not to melt the poster. If the temperature is too hot, please be patient and wait for the iron to cool down after you lower the setting. It takes longer for an iron to cool than it does to heat up.
This will make your poster crease free.
If you do not have an iron, then place the fabric poster in the dryer with some wet clothes. The heat from the dryer and the steam from the wet clothes will release the creases, but not as well as an iron will.
